Stella Matutina (Morning Star) College of Education under the Management of the Franciscan Sisters of the Presentation of Our Lady was established in July 1961. The College offers B.Ed., M.Ed., M. Phil, and Ph.D. Degree courses. The College has been conferred Autonomous status in 2005. However, it continues to be affiliated College of Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University and is autonomous in the sense that it is free to frame its own courses of study and to adopt innovative methods of teaching and evaluation. The college has been accredited at the five star level by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in April 2000, re-accredited at Grade ‘A’ level in 2007, and re-accredited (Third Cycle) at ‘A’ Grade with CGPA: 3.48 in December 2014.
