LMS

Digital Education is an evolving area primarily concerned with the teaching-learning process using digital media. It has evolved from activities such as sharing text resources and students submitting assignments online to the availability of various types of content such as audio, video and multimedia resources. The continuous advancement in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the internet, with a virtually unlimited supply of digital resources, has made multiple modes of teaching and learning.

Stella Matutina believes teaching-learning through synchronous and asynchronous modes is desirable for effective digital teaching and learning. Anytime, anywhere, online, and blended learning provide opportunities for teacher educators and student teachers to work more independently, expand their knowledge, creative and critical thinking, and learn to use tools and strategies that otherwise may not be feasible in classrooms for teaching-learning and assessment.

Stella Matutina College of Education developed an LMS to improve online learning experiences for student teachers and to conceive, plan, and execute training programmes more quickly and effectively. A learning management system aims to train users and reduce costs. Digital education allows flexible and personalised learning at the learner’s speed, and one can continuously augment and expand content through digital means. Due to the rapid increase in internet penetration, SMCE has created a conducive environment for moving towards digital education.

The LMS allows student teachers to learn anytime and anywhere. Student teachers can access courses whenever they like rather than during a set time, enabling them to learn at their own pace and get the most out of their education.
